Diabetics at Jamba Juice:

Eating good food at the right time can control your blood sugar, also stop you from craving wrong sort of food. Jamba Juice offers drinks in three separate sizes: 16, 24, and 32-ounce. You can choose the lowest serving size and cut down on sugars and calorie intake. If you're diabetic and concerned about the sugar intake, then you can opt for the smaller 9.5-ounce smoothies available for kids at Jamba Juice.

Foods to Avoid at Jamba Juice for Diabetics:

Jamba Juice is primarily known for its highly satisfying and nutritive smoothies and juices. Almost every smoothie and juice item on the Jamba Juice menu contains sugar. Diabetics are recommended to opt for smaller serving size while ordering at Jamba Juice. Also, avoid opting for creamy treats as all the smoothies offered in this category contain a load of sugars.

Keep the sugar content below 50g per meal at Jamba Juice and ensure that you don't follow it with a heavy meal. A small size regular smoothie is equivalent to a meal for everyone. Classic smoothies at Jamba Juice are also heavily loaded with sugars. Stay away from that section if you are a diabetic.

Chef/Owner Masa and wife Noriko are making waves at Key West's hip, vintage Santa Maria Hotel where their edgy Japanese restaurant and sushi bar is renowned for its authentic, artfully crafted plates including Masa's premium bluefin tuna creations and other full-flavored dishes like the Spicy Seafood Carpaccio with fresh jalapeno, sweet onion and Yuzu pepper paste. Tradition and innovation collide with all kinds of intriguing signature rolls including the Hamachi Heat - an addictive fusion of snow crab salad, jalapeno and tempura topped with hamachi, jalapeno slices, Shichimi powder and a side of spicy ponzu. Lots of other Japanese specialties here, too along with an eclectic selection of artisan sake, fun saketini's, wine and beer.

I love sushi, and I wouldn't recommend this place if you love sushi! We were craving sushi and we couldn't find any place with at least 4 stars, so we decided to try it anyway. Pros: 1. Hamachi Kama - was fresh and tasty 2. Baby Scallop Dynamite - tasty but way too much Mayo!!! Cons: 1. Toro sushi - disgusting! Robbery and not fresh (was far from melting in your mouth) 2. Rolls- don't remember the name but we had two and both was NOT good: dry and no taste. 3. Spicy Tuna hand roll- bad, again not a sushi grade tuna questionable freshness. At the end, we hardly eat our food for exception of Hamachi Kama and Dynamite. Service was good. If you enjoy good a quality sushi this place is not for you!

The food was good, but the LOUSY service was not enough to save this dinner for us. We had gyoza, miso soup, shrimp tempura, spicy shrimp roll and a sushi special. It was fine. Fresh definitely, but nothing special. Worst of all. Its Florida. I dont think its too much to ask to expect my water to be refilled. Nope. And as a final insult they wouldnt split the check. When one person is on corporate card and another is on personal card with a whopping 5 items ordered how hard is it to portion it out for us? Really. Its not like you were busy filling our waters you awful waitress! AVOID. Not worth it!

We loved the experience and our waitress was darling. I wish we'd come at dusk to enjoy the food presentation (dry ice and lights) to the fullest. A lovely evening regardless.

Good sushi. Beautiful atmosphere. Staff was polite. A little more upscale prices than they needed to be. Nice variety of sushi to try. Everything was very fresh and clean. Service was quick, but not rushed.

Excelent food! It is not easy to find a decent food in keywest as the turists are not that demanding. This a good japanese restaurant but a little expensive. Still i recommend as i had a good tume there with a delicious food.

What a beautiful location in a 50s Swedish kind of style old hotel a block from the water... Interesting sushi selections with different twists...I wish that they had brown rice but I know that is a thing just particular to me... Love Key West and will definitely go back... The waitress was awesome

We stayed at the Hotel "Santa Maria Resort" which were fantastic. We had a lunch at their restaurant, the food was good but ordinary.

I've been traveling to Key West for over 4 years and just found out from my friend about this amazing sushi restaurant. We came here this past Sunday. We didn't have reservations but we were seated right away. The place is not that big but pretty modern...I kinda liked it cause it felt intimate. Its adjacent to Santa Maria suites. Started with miso soup of course. Broth was thick enough and served hot..thank god. Then we ordered 2 kinds of Sake samplers. Each order came with 3 sakes with descriptions. The selections were great and informative. Perfect if you have never tried sake. Now, here comes our sushi entrees: 1) Dragon Roll - It was our least favorite but prepared well. I guess we order these everytime we are in a sushi restaurant so it didn't make us jump out of our seats. 2) Spider Roll - Crazy presentation and delicious! Its somewhat difficult to eat with chopsticks but we got the job done cause we used our hands. Sshh...lol :) 3) Tiger Woods - Again, excellent presentation! This no-rice roll had salmon, cream cheese, asparagus, tempura...deep fried splashed with balsamic soy sauce. Yummy sushi goodness! 4) Playmate Signature Roll - Our favorite! Barbecued eel, cream cheese, fish cake, avocado, macadamia nut encrusted, deep!fried topped with dynamite sauce! If you gotta do fashion rolls, this concoction is one of the best ones I've had. We also ended up ordering couple of Martinis. Of course I had to try their Lychee Martinis which was decent. My friend ordered this blue colored martini which was way too sweet. I knew it was going to be just by looking at it. Overall, I liked the atmosphere, the sake selections and superb sushi presentations. The best was the price for the entire order....around $120 bucks. Crazy!!! If we were in Miami, the bill would've been doubled. Thank you Key West for this gem :) See my pics.

Ambrosia for two was awesome. Plenty for sushi and sashimi for two people, and they are delicious. We ordered extra conch sushi. Soo yummy!

An average experience with a shocking end. Ambrosia is a very modern looking restaurant. Based on the looks we expected a great meal. We ordered several dishes from the extensive menu. Some starters and some rolls. The food was ok. Well, very average for a Japanese restaurant, not what you expect in such an ambience. The prices on the menu also give you the impression you will get great dishes. When we asked for the check, the waitress Patrycja) came to explain that the gratuity was not included. She showed us the amounts we could add and circeled the amounts so we could make no mistakes. When I asked her if she did that for all customers she said she did it for us because we have a European accent. Living in the US now for many years we don't like to be profiled and never have been. This was a shocking experience!!

This restaurant is a little out of the way but we come here whenever craving Japanese food. Their Japanese dishes are far better than their sushi-- I would recommend their miso cod and their beef dishes! The ambiance is nice with a blue-lit sushi bar, lots of chatter, and well-placed tables. Each time we've come, however, we've noticed the servers are always very frazzled, often forgetting to bring us our drinks or forgetting the specials of the day for example. Our waitress once spilled sake all over our table, so it's not the most poised place... Even if you make reservations, they are often behind schedule. There are many great food choices on the main strip in Key West, but if you're looking for something more secluded and good Asian-fusion, try Ambrosia.

I for one, am really hesitant about who I will buy sushi from, but I decided to try this place w/ my girlfriends when a local bar manager in Key West recommended it to us. WOW!!! From the hostess to the waitress, they were accommodating and very nice. They bring you a warm towel when you sit down, answer questions on the menu, and deliver the food promptly. So nice to have a great place to eat sushi while we're in Key West!

Food is so-so. Service is So-so. Maybe you can try Key West Roll. Mandatory 18% gratuity is included for 4 or more people. Feel bad.

  • Katie S.

I went here for lunch with my fiance. We were told to sit wherever we like. The waiter gave me a weird vibe. I am new to sushi and asked, probably a stupid question, and you could tell he was judging me. The food was decent. I ate it all. It wasn't my favorite and didnt leave a memorable impression.

Seating is challenging as it is one of the only Sushi restaurants on the island. With that said, after they quoted us a ridiculous amount of time to get a table, we sat at the sushi bar. I went with 2 locals, my really good friend lives on Island and grew up in Miami so she knows sushi. We did however go back in December of 2012. IT appears the negative reviews all start after that. So perhaps something happened since then? Decor is awesome and it is one of the nicest decorated places in Key West. Our service at the sushi bar was impeccable and the coolest part, THE HAVE A FEMALE SUSHI CHEF. Shut the front door! I never realized, I had never encountered one, UNTIL I sdid. I have never seen one!!! Why is that? Anyhow, I thought it was cool! Great presentation of food, we got the little purses to start as an app, and they were delicious. Sushi was fresh and tasty. I think I uploaded pix, so take a look. I would go back, but I would definitely look at recent reviews maybe before I do.

  • Bee G.

Remarkable - we loved the spider roll (has a special sauce I've never tasted in that kind of roll), conch, beach clam, otoro, and mackerel sushi, spicy Norwegian Sea trout roll, and so many more. Both the hostess and chief sushi chef have immense experience and have turned out consistent genius at this location for years now. The room is gorgeous and the staff attentive; this is our first dinner when we arrive in Key West, and our last before we leave!

Excellent good and great drinks! The price for the quality is the top. I would say there is nothing bad here. All of the food is excellent. Always good to call ahead for reservations. Staff is excellent.

My husband and I are visiting from Houston, Texas and look for a good sushi restaurant everywhere we go. The bartender was great, and we loved the Bluefin Toro and Ocean Trout sushi. The Beauty and the Beast Roll is killer, and I subbed Salmon for the Eel. It tasted amazing! We will be back next time we come to Key West. :)

service was ok... it is too loud for me & small place... not really what I was expecting... I loved the appetizer that we ordered: dynamite seafood... the sushi is ok... we ordered ambrosia for 2... but honestly I don't think I would go back there...

Interesting south beachy type of ambiance. We walked in on a Friday night and got seated right away as a party of 5, but place was pretty much full at that point. Reservations may be a good idea on the weekends. Had miso soup and clam miso soup and while they were decent, they were pretty boring flavor. Had some tempura as appetizer and was good. Then we got 5 sushi rolls and everyone liked them but a couple roll were sliced into only 4 pieces as the overall rolls were smaller than the others. The namesake Ambrosia roll was tasty but only 4 pieces. Beauty n Beast roll was well received by everyone in the group. Rainbow roll was a winner also. We were very happy with the sushi but it may not blow away your fav sushi resaurant back home but you'll be happy getting your sushi fix here while on vacation.

Although I am not the biggest fan of Japanese Cuisine, I had a pleasant experience here at Ambrosia. Their menu is strictly Japanese meals, and everything that I tried I enjoyed. My waitress Shelley, was bubbly and very helpful when it came to understanding the menu and ordering our meals. The food comes quick and you are in and out of the restaurant in under one hour. I would recommend that you make a reservation because they are popular and very busy. Also, the decor is interesting and functional!

11.24.14 with one other for dinner We ordered and shared the following rolls Bagel Beauty and the beast Key west Tekka And got Albacore The food was good. Fresh fish and presented nicely. The service was great. We sat at the table closest to the bar and the bartender took care of us. We didn't have reservations so that's where we sat. But we liked it better because it was away from the crowd.

Visiting or living in Key West and want to find the best sushi on the Island. Ambrosia is the place to eat. My wife and I love sushi and could not find a descent place that served really good sushi. Ambrosia was recommended by a local and we fell in love.

Overpriced. The Miso soup was delicious. The Hand rolls were average. The place was in a very good location and very cool. By the Southernmost Point. The walls change color. Has a bar. Part of the Santa Maria Resort. Kids are allowed. Nice employees. Good food. Awesome place.

The foods is not bad, but also nothing special. I had better sushi for much a better price. The bartender for the restaurant is also our waitress. We waited for a long time before she remember to take our order. The overall experience is not great. I have no reason to come back. A little disappointed because I heard so people rave about this place. Not what I expected. Foods is overpriced.

Bad service and bad attitude. We come in a group of six. When we order a big entree to share the waitress as if we are spilting it and we said yes. She said ok and then nothing. But when the entree came up with one miso soup, she said we will share it. Oops. Plus, she said we were paying 15 dollars ask spilting fee. What's the cost for you guys? You were even wouldn't give us a head up when confirming the spilt. Then when we were reviewing the check, we looked at the menu and found that it says the spilting fee is for conditional soups, well.. we were just getting one soup and she claimed it so clearly. We talked to the waitress, she insisted bring the soups even when we are done. Well, I see you just want that $15 and don't give a sh*t about the courtesy miso soups. And don't do box. They charge that too. The food is average. Consider it in key west, that is sooo below average. Soy sauce too heavy amd salty. Failure. Zero toleration of that in Japan. Just take a look at those reviews. Racist discrimination, giving you attitude for being late of reservation(even the bar is half empty), blahblahblah. Ambrosio is such a catch-22. So desperate for money. Trust me, they would ruin your beautiful Key West day with ridiculous reasons. Don't surprise yourself.

Three consecutive years vacationing in Key West and we never even knew this restaurant existed until a local told us about it. Very easy to miss because it is located on a side street next to the Southernmost Hotel but it is actually located in the Santa Maria Suites Resort. My husband wanted to go but after reading the Yelp reviews about the terrible service, I was hesitant. So I warned him what I had read and we decided to take a chance. This was one of my favorite meals ever. You step into this restaurant and are transported into this Zen-like world, beautiful, serene, calm. One of the most beautiful restaurants I have ever been to.....kudos to whoever designed this space: it is impressive and breathtaking in its simplicity and beauty. The bar, with simple shelves and twigs has a gorgeous illuminated back drop that changes color. The hostess and server were cordial and efficient. No attitude at all. The sushi was fantastic----stunningly fresh. The presentation was artwork, beautiful to look at and delicous to eat. We saw several appetizers served "smoking" as they were on dry ice, our "Flaming Volcano roll" came out on "fire" some drinks were served "glowing". Sounds gimmicky, but when the quality of the fish matches the outrageous presentation, you are all the more impressed. The sushi choices were inventive and creative. The negimaki & tuna tataki were both excellent, We loved the Key West Roll and the Florida roll. I did not like our Flaming Volcano roll which came with a warm, seafood mixture that was placed on top of the roll. The decor of Ambrosia is sleek and striking, very cosmopolitan. With that being said, I didn't find it stuffy or pretentious at all. So if you need a break from the casual (but amazing) fish shacks and Jimmy Buffet music, this is a spectacular restaurant that will captivate you with both its tranquility and sushi. .

Overall I really love their sushi. It's fresh, creative and the presentation is wonderful, but the place does have a few issues. SERIVCE: Staff is nice but a bit off sometimes; like being slow to refill drinks or to simply check on us to see if we need anything during our meal and sometimes they bring the check without making sure we are done. Also, for whatever reason a couple sushi restaurants in key west seem to end up with russian or eastern european servers (just an observation, no complaint or affect to the rating). FOOD: excellent but order carefully. Be warned when ordering anything here at market price; your wallet will be a lot lighter when you leave. Order off the menu as items are described; if you change or custom design your sushi, it gets very expensive. We have been charged more for a roll than the menu price when we requested to have an item left out of the roll (but to them it's a custom roll). The sushi is very fresh; as it should since key west brings in fresh tuna and local catches daily. If you order straight off the menu then you will be very pleased. PRICING: absolutely ridiculous. Especially when you order anything that is a special or a market price item. They excel at taking advantage of the patrons if they are willing to pay for those items; just stick with the menu items or at least ask how much an item is before ordering it if the item is listed as market price. And of course, don't customize or modify any rolls. DECOR: whoever was hired to design the style and decor deserves a reward. The bar is very modern and the lighting changes various colors. The whole place oozes modern style (perhaps slightly out of place for key west but it does cater to the wealthier locals and over-abundance of tourists). I love this place and the food, but the lack of a decent server staff and obscene pricing lower my rating

Wow! Great Customer Service and Fabulous Food!! Cant beat that! I was staying at the Waldorf Astoria next door and saw this place. We just went in for a quick bite and ended up eating a ton! So good and fresh!!! My sake-tini had a blue sugar rim and was super yummy! I then started with the Japaleno Yellowtail... It was presented on this platter with a glow in the dark light.. yes glow in the dark... It was so beautifully presented that I didn't want to indulge in it...but when I did..it was melt in your mouth delicious! We continued to order off the sushi menu and wow! Literally everthing we ordered was fresh and yummy! You cant go wrong with this place.. I believe they are only open for dinner which is a real shame because it is sooooo good... The ambiance is amazing as well.. This is a must stop if you are ever in the key west area!!!

I was with a local who told me the food is great but the woman who owns the restaurant is super rude. He was very correct. She was pissed we were an hour early for our reservation when the entire restaurant was empty, but the food was excellent nevertheless. This may have been the freshest sushi I've ever had. We did order some fried rolls, like a spider roll and their famous 'playmate' roll, and the breading they use is really weird. It was close to breadcrumbs. I'd ask for the regular tempura breading if you order a fried roll.

Although our server was completely out of it and couldn't remember anything we ordered this was a really nice sushi place. This restaurant is a little off the beaten path and is attached to a hotel. The restaurant is very modern and looks upscale but the prices are surprising reasonable and comparable to most sushi restaurants. This is a perfect place for a date or a quite dinner. The presentation of the dishes was really impressive. The fiery volcano roll came out with a mini cucumber bowl in the middle on that was lit on fire and the tuna sashimi was presented on top of dry ice (very cool). I highly recommend the spicy tuna sandwiches, I have never seen these before and they were super tasty. The only reason I'm giving this place 3 stars is because I like spicy sushi and nothing on the menu was at the spice level I get at my usually sushi hang out. If you like spicy I highly suggest asking them to kick it up.. even if the menu says it's a spicy roll.

If I could give zero stars I would. This speaks for the food and the absolutely horrible service from our waitress. She was the most rude people we had ever encountered on the island. It's surprising given the premium price they add on their menu. STAY FAR FAR AWAY!!! There are much better options down the street!

Pretty disappointing. The rolls were ok, but the (expensive) fatty tuna was super chewy and fishy. Not what you want to pay extra $ for. Whatever you do, don't order the avocado and king crab appetizer unless you love chewy fishy mayonnaise! Our server recommended it, so we ordered it (it's $14 and only a scoop of nastiness in a half an avocado) We took one bite and told her it was off. She didn't care, told us the restaurant was strict about taking things off the bill (I didn't even mention the Toro). Did I mention it was $14? Save your money and your mouth. Avoid this place.

This place has a nice set up and is easy on the eyes, BUT the food was super salty! The miso soup was hard to eat, the wasabi had no spiciness or flavor, and the soy sauce was just terrible. The chicken teriyaki was bland and that sauce was terribly salty as well. Was expecting something way better for what I had to pay. I expected freshness and quality. None of my expectations were met. Can't wait to go back and have better sushi and service in my hometown in California.

The food and atmosphere here where only topped by our service from Hannas. We felt as if we were VIPs for the evening and had an absolute wonderful time and tried so many new rolls, sake, and dishes! It's hard to find such quality food and service in one place in the Keys, especially Key West. Ambrosia exceeded our expectations!

Came here in need of a sushi fix a few nights ago. And I got it. Never ate so much every! We pretty much ordered everything off the menu. The sushi rolls are HUGE! I've never seem such large sized sushi in my life. I'm sure they are made for Godzilla! The restaurant is beautiful, the waitress was very friendly. And the sushi was dam good! The Saki was super strong as well. But i'm a lightweight.

We found this place on Key West TV. When we first went, it was in a converted house with just a few tables. The sushi was great and we were hooked. Now, they've moved, and it's a full restaurant. The decor is modern and pleasant. The sushi is fantastic. Although you may get a table, have a reservation or you may have to sit at the bar. I'm sure we'll continue to keep going back here. Although mostly good, the service is sometimes lacking. This will keep me from giving this place 5 stars. The food does get 5 stars though. If they moved back to that little converted house, I'd give it 6 stars!

It started off bad when the Gal at the front wanted to take away (empty) our styrofoam cups. Made a production and then when if i couldn't keep my cup i was going elsewhere, they showed us to a table. Then our waitress (nice about it) after we ordered drinks, required that we give the cups up and she would give them back when we were leaving. So we were ambushed! All this over some cups that no one could see as they put us in a cubby hole. what ever happened to the customer is always right? No domestic beers. The food was good. The waitress did a good job. Thus 2 stars instead of 0 !

I'm a big sushi-eater and I was really looking forward to Ambrosia after reading the reviews on Yelp. Sadly, I was disappointed in every way. Ordinarily I dismiss yelp reviews about "service" assuming that maybe most people have a lower tolerance than me for busy restaurants and overworked staff. However, in this case, I should have listened to yelpers. We walked in to Ambrosia around 6:30pm and the restaurant was about 2/3 full. We had no reservation but because we were early for dinner anyway we were willing to wait for a table. The manager (owner?) met us at the door and asked us if we had a reservation. We told her we didn't and she said "then you'll have to sit at the bar." I said "couldn't we just wait for a table? We're willing to wait." She looked at me like I was nuts and repeated "you have no reservation - you have to sit at the bar." I looked at the hostess and said "how long is the wait?" and the owner said "no reservation - sit at bar." Finally we relented and sat at the bar, but already we were pissed. The menu wasn't anything to write home about. Almost every roll had cream cheese in it! I tried to order rolls without cream cheese in it, but because we wanted to try some conch-sushi we ordered the volcano, which indicated that it had cream cheese. Oh well, it isn't like I've never had cream cheese in sushi before, I just don't prefer it. We also ordered the tuna sashimi because we are both big sashimi fans. The sashimi came out in a weird dish with dry ice in it and smoke coming out around it. Totally gimmicky. I wish they had spent the time to make it billow smoke to actually create a nice sauce to eat with the sashimi. It was thickly sliced with no sauce other than soy and wasabi. The volcano roll was what killed the meal for us, however. It was a simple sushi roll covered in this bizarre sauce made of conch, scallop, and melted cream cheese. The sauce was poured all over the roll. It looked like sushi nachos. We could barely eat it, it was so disgusting. Oh, and it was also smoking with dry ice like a little volcano. More gimmicks. On top of all of this, the prices are pretty high for what I found to be standard South Florida seafood and a lot of silly gimmicks.

Five stars for fresh, fresh, fresssshhhhhhhh seafood in the rolls. The scallop just MELTED in my mouth like butter on a hot pancake...the freshest scallops I have EVER had. My mouth had multiple orgasms and I cried after the last one was eaten. I highly recommend stopping by Ambrosia if you are a sushi fan...amazingly fresh rolls. MUST GET ANYTHING WITH SCALLOPS ON/IN IT!! Also, they have a great selection of hot and cold sakes to compliment your meal. I will definitely be returning some day.

Simply The Best! Price, Quality, Presentation, and Service are excellent. We ordered a sashimi plate that was perfect. Nice portions of yellow tail and albacore with dry ice bubbling as the presentation. When we go back to Key West this will be my first stop.

Probably the prettiest sushi I've ever seen or eaten, in a slick, modern - but still comfortable - restaurant. This might be my shortest review ever, but it was just...PRETTY. Everything about it was pretty. Go and see for yourself.

Worst rubbery Miso Salmon I've ever had...the Japanese owner refused to take it off our bill and was incredibly rude. Even the wait-staff commented how the place lacks customer service. I should have listened to the other Yelpers on this one...don't bother eating here!

Ok we are going to set the record straight - we love sushi and almost didn't come come here based on the Yelp reviews Number one - this is the best sushi place on key west period The decor is lovely very south beach - highly recommend the scallop shasimi appetizer and the super atomic roll Miso cod was good (not as good as Nobu) And pass on the spicy mussels Prices were not New York price or even South Beach but very resonable Depending on where you stay this place could be far away (near the southern most point)

  • Rebecca V.

O.. where to start. You have a cranky Japanese man in the front with a big knife that makes the BEST food i have had. I am a sushi ho. I lov sushi - and of all the places i have sampled sushi from (and let me tell you, i have been arround!) this is my mecca, hands down. Fresh food, excellent selection, the owner IS the cook and sushi is his life. The service.. eh... i best not comment on it. The price, welllll, it is Key West. Although I can't tell you how many times i ate there over a 3 year period, my CC record will testify that Ambrosia enjoyed the fact I had a great job and was there quite often.. Take my review as food based only.

SO disappointing!! This restaurant was actually recommended so we were really looking forward to some super fresh sushi. We were off to an auspicious start because the decor is beautiful, hip and modern. That's where the positive began and ended. The service was dismal. I love Eastern Europeans, they usually give great service but our server was virtually non existent. And she was rude and slow. I despise when servers walk right by your table and don't even glance at you. Now let me get to the food part--my family loves sushi, we are from Va Beach where we have one of the best sushi restaurants of any coastal city, so we know good sushi. Based on the decor we thought the sushi would be innovative, fresh and delicious so we ordered the chefs special for 2. Well, let me just say, it had a California roll on it. Yes, a California roll on a chefs special. It also had a tuna roll *yawn* and an extra special cucumber roll. I could not believe it. I knew it was all downhill from there. The sashimi was gross and the texture was poor. The squid salad was straight out of a package. Our bill was 170 and we could have gotten better sushi at a Harris Teeter. If I could have given no stars I would have.

We came here for lunch because we had heard that it was the best sushi on the island. When we arrived, the restaurant was almost empty. The interior was perfect and looks onto the garden of a hotel that connects to it. You really feel like you're in a tropical place. The menu is pretty standard to that of other sushi restaurants but there are a few surprises on the menu. Our waitress seemed pretty informal but checked on us regularly. As far as the sushi goes, it was pretty good. Not the best that I've ever had but definitely tasty. We'd probably go back here again.

  • Merrissa S.

Yuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmmm! Best sushi I've had. Though take that as you will because I only started eating sushi a few years back. But seriously. Everything I put in my mouth at Ambrosia was deeeeelectible. We started off with a seafood gratin (and an order of sake pour moi). I only started eating seafood very recently, and am still not used to the texture and taste, however this gratin was delicious. Creamy, slightly crunchy, and oh so tasty with a bit of lemon juice squeezed on top. I can't remember everything we got...but the tuna sashimi stands out in my mind. Service? The service was great...and our waitress forgot to charge me for one of my sake's, which was nice (my second free drink of the day). We didn't know how dressy it was before we went, so we were a little underdressed. Usually I worry about how we will be treated in that sort of situation, but it was no matter. I kept forgetting Key West is the opposite of pretentious LA. Our bill came out to $80 for two people, which is pretty good for high quality sushi and drinks, in my opinion. If/when I go back to Key West...I will definitely be paying the wonderful staff and fish of Ambrosia a visit.

We just had dinner on Mar 24, 2013 in this restaurant but had a very bad experience. We walked in and ordered just 2 orders of sushi with a waitress who was nice and sweet. After that we started waiting forever until I almost ran out of patience and called a lady who I believe was the manager on duty because she was wearing a uniform different than the other waitresses. I explained to her that I had been waiting long and another party walked in after us already got their order however we hadn't. The manager was an ass hole and speaked to us very rudely. Just in time our order came and she said "ok here it comes and it doesn't make any difference!". Furthermore, while we were having our dinner this lady standed behind us and kept trying to say it doesn't make any difference! We all felt being discriminated by this lady and was so angry that we didn't have any appetite to finish the dinner. I would say if you come to Key West avoid this restaurant!

Just got back from Key West for our annual girls' trip! Whoohoo!! With 10 girls dining, it's always hard to satisfy everyone's palettes. But Ambrosia hit the spot. I'm not a big sushi eater so I had the spicy tuna roll and another, somewhat less boring, roll -- very very good. My friends mixed it up a bit and ordered various spicy rolls and loved their food too. My only complaint is that we waited far too long to be addressed/approached once we sat down, but the service was better once they realized we weren't annoying young spring breakers (which seems to be commonplace in Key West around this time.)

The sushi was good but our experience with the server( she sad that she is manager) has been HORRIBLE. Me and my friends used to go to this restaurant all the time but this time was the warts experience ever. Our waiter was slow and didn't come over our table even once to find out whether we need anything. She was very rood and made us feel totally unwelcome. On the end she sad that we have to live her more tips (why? if she manager she can do that?) Very bad customer service!!!

beautiful restaurant. does not fit with the typical key west vibe. very trendy and modern. looks more like something you'd find on south beach. sushi was pretty good, although I have had better. and its slightly more expensive than it should be. but we will definitely be going back. its also the only place i've ever seen serving avocado tempura. its worth going back for that alone!

    (4)
  • Sarah B.

How is this place good?! It was awful. I'm not a sushi expert, but I love good food. I usually like sushi that is tempura fried, so I'll order a few pieces of that along with whatever my husband wants and I'll try some of everything. The light, crispy, warm tempura is a great contrast to the other textures, I think. But the stuff they call "tempura" is actually PANKO and they fry the crap out of it. It's greasy and rubbery. Our waitress wasn't very helpful at answering any questions we had. The table and chairs were tiny and uncomfortable. We usually like to order maybe a half dozen different things when we go out for sushi so we can try a bunch of stuff and leisurely enjoy a bottle of wine, but you could barely fit a bottle of wine on the table. The only good thing was that it was right next door to our hotel. So that's one star.

This was definitely, from start to finish my favorite dining experience in Key West. We began at the bar with a sake flight and they prepared a special table for us and the bartender us know that whenever we were ready we could sit down and she would be our server. When we did we ordered a variety of sushi including the playmate roll which was covered in macadamia nuts...yum! I also loved the miso soup which had mushrooms in it, and the sashimi which was served in a smoking cup. The atmosphere is modern and sleek without being pretentious. A bonus of Ambrosia is definitely the location, because it is off Duval and the marina the crowd is smaller and less in party mode, made for a much more relaxing and enjoyable dining experience.

A tiny, unassuming little sushi bar staffed and attended by all of the lovely and colorful Key West folk, which - literally - could not be in a better area for serving fresh, raw fishes. I've eaten here two or three rimes over the years on some of my trips to Key West, and was blown away by the freshness and variety of the fish every time. It's one of my top two or three sushi joints anywhere, and I can't wait to go back. One time, I sat next to a charming gay couple, one of whom was wearing a bright lime green suit, maybe you could even call it chartreuse. This is the kind of unrepentant fabulosity you are likely to come across here. Top notch!

We have been eating at Ambrosia since it first opened in the hole in the wall on Virginia St. I'm no sushi purist but I know what I love and this is it. They have a nice selection of sake and an average selection of beer. The service is usually very good. The fish is fresh and well presented, the rolls are creative. The spicy shrimp katsu roll is one of the best things I have ever eaten. It's the place I judge all other domestic sushi by.

Honestly, being from NYC, I wasn't all that impressed with Ambrosia. I was debating on two stars, but the decor is pretty nice and i will give them their props on the green tea creme brulee. THAT was pretty damn delicious. However, the sushi rolls were just A-OK, and nothing else.

We were on vacation in Key West this past week in June and wanted something different than the Steak and Seafood restaurants so we found Ambrosia. Initial thoughts when we walked in were bright and inviting place. We dined there on a Thursday night around 8pm. It was busy but there were some empty tables. Our waitress took a while to get to our table. She took the drink order as we ordered some soft drinks and some wine. It took about 15 minutes or more to get our wine. When we ordered our food, some ordered a shrimp scampi type dish, some ordered teriyaki steak and my husband ordered sushi. We received our appetizers within about 15 minutes but our meals came out about 30 minutes after that and piece by piece. Three dishes came out at the same time, then another one about 5 minutes later, then another one about 15 minutes then the last one, my husband's sushi came out about 20 minutes after the first meal came out. Well in my book....all food comes out at the same time. When I asked the waitress where the other food was she stated that she was busy and it might be sitting in the window ready for her to pick up. I said it wasn't her fault it was probably the kitchen and she stated "no I've been busy it's probably mine I'll go check on your food". Well most of us had already finished our meals by the time the last two came out. At this point we were really upset. Had to ask other waiters going by for their help because our girls seemed to disappear. When she finally came back I told her that we shouldn't have to pay for the last two meals...they didn't get to eat with us and my husband's $40 sushi platter was uneaten...he had some of everyone else's meal and didn't want it at that point. She said she was sorry and would take care of it. And asked if we'd like a free dessert. We declined the dessert and just asked for the bill. Now here's where it gets interesting. This other young girl approaches the table and proceeds to lecture us on if you order something you pay. She would not be taking of any meals, but would give us half off one of them. I told her that we didn't get to eat together and my husband didn't even want his meal when it finally came out. She basically said tough. You will pay the bill. I asked who the manager was and she stated me. She said she was the manager on duty, but she was also working the bar that night. I asked to speak to the owner; she stated they were not there. I told her that we were not going to pay for meals when we didn't get them in a timely fashion nor did we have good service. The waitress then chimed in and got very ugly, as did the fill in manager. She slammed the bill on the table and said pay it. Then she proceeded to walk back by the table, staring at me and said under her breath "if I was only off work I'd .....We were all stunned. I had never been treated so poorly in a restaurant before. No had I ever been personally threatened or felt threatened by an employee of any establishment. I have been in F&B for over 20 years and never had I seen such poor disregard for customer service in my life! Finally a young man came up from the kitchen...I think he was the chef or head cook and said he was sorry and that he would take off the two meals. He took the bill and corrected it, but did put an automatic gratuity on the bill...which I don't think should have happened. But oh well. We just wanted to get out of there! I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone ever! Bad Bad Service and Experience!

I'm a local and we eat at Ambrosia a lot. However, we also eat sushi everywhere we go in the world. I have to say after reading some of these really angry reviews, it makes me wonder where these people were or what their expectations were. For instance, one complained about pricing but didn't realize that they were asking for a dinner menu item at lunch and that took special prep, I'm sure. Again, folks, it's not Denny's. Ambrosia has the finest seafood I've ever eaten, always consistant and the service is always good. I can only think of two problems. One is trying to make a reservation. They are very stringent about the times they allow for reservations and often, we've walked into an empty restaurant and they want to seat us at the tall 'bar' tables, which I hate. We won't eat there if we have to eat like bar rats. However, once we are seated at a table we like, the service is always good. We refer tourists to restaurants all the time and this is probably our favorite, with others such as LaTrat, Croissants d'France, Santiagos Bodega, and Sarabeths on the list. Oh...and one more comment (second problem as mentioned above): I am never happy when I go to a restaurant and spend hundreds of dollars for a nice quiet meal with my husband, only to have a table full of unruly kids nearby. Because of the accoustics in this restaurant, I do wish they'd stop allowing the little anklebiters in if their parents can't control them and they can't act like civilized humans. It's not ChuckeeCheese, for heavens sake.

Beautiful restaurant - most maki rolls are cooked - strangely. Quality is only good. A fair amount of mayo used in the rolls. Seaweed salad was standard and a small portion. Much better seafood elswhere on key west.

I've been here twice and live around the corner. That should say something. The sushi is just okay, but we will happily travel elsewhere for better sushi. The Miso soup was barely warm and the soft shell crab in the spider roll was over-battered and again... cold.

A very nice and special restaurant. It is a tiny bit pricey ($130+ for 3 people), but definitely worth the price! The decor is lovely! It really sets the mood. We sat at the bar because all other tables were taken at the time and we didn't want to wait for another table. There are special rolls that I've never eaten in other sushi restaurants. Unfortunately, I forgot what they're called. But if you ask the waiter for recommendations, they'll tell you the special rolls. We also ordered the teryaki combo and the chef's selection sushi/sashimi/roll ($40) combo. The portion was great! It is extremely tasty. The salmon is the best. We saw a great sake/wine collection at the bar but unfortunately had to drive back and couldn't taste any. Overall, this place is great!

Ambrosia is my favorite sushi spot on Key West. i know there is always a debate whenever the topic of sushi comes up anywhere in the country, but Ambrosia more than passes the test. However, while the food is good, I did have issue with other aspects of the experience. First, I'm not digging the atmosphere. The restaurant is basically in the lobby of a hotel and is very "open." I know a lot of people love the atmosphere, but I wasn't impressed. Second, the service was bad..... not slow, just very unprofessional. My wife ordered a cocktail that was not the greatest (I'm being polite) and she wanted to return the drink. Our waitress responded with some BS excuse about how since they are a small company they really can't just discount a drink because someone doesn't like it. Ok waitress, you just earned yourself $12 less on your tip since you were such a (bleep.) Furthermore, don't tell me that your restaurant "can't make it" when you are charging $15 for about 1 ounce of raw fish. Anyhow, let me get off my soapbox.... The fish is extremely fresh and the presentation was amazing. We had a surf and turf roll which was out of this world and topped with thinly sliced NY strip steak. I also had pieces of nigri..... eel, salmon, tuna, and tuna. All of it was very delicious. Under normal circumstances, this place deserves 4 stars. I deducted a star because of our mishap with the cocktail and due to the fact that I wasn't a huge fan of the atmosphere.

All I can say is wow. My husband and I wanted something light tonight, so headed for Ambrosia. Chef Masa Yahsimoto was behind the sushi bar so we sat there, to watch him at work. What good luck! Our sushi was fresh, generously apportioned, and most exceptionally delicious. We sampled several different types of sake, and were quite pleased with the service. 5 stars to Ambrosia... an exceptional restaurant and experience.

Service was horrible owner was very rude arrived with a party of eight people and they could not make the most simple request that Publix could do in making sushi. Do not recommend this restaurant. You do not want to spend your money At a establishment where they do not appreciate your business

    (1)
  • Jeremy A.

Service here was great and we were seated immediately. The menu has many types of fusion type apps that you should go for if presentation is your thing. I saw the nigiri and sashimi was reasonably priced which was wierd since the rolls were kind of expensive. I had some white fish catch which was grouper and oh man it was so awesome. The fish here was super fresh and everything we had was real good. Next time I go back ill stick to nigiri and sashimi as its the best bang for the buck and really tasty.

Not the best sushi on the island. Might be the best decorate sushi restaurant on the island, but not the best quality food, by far. The food was fine, not bad by any means, just not that great for the price. The service was not as great. Very inattentive and slow The decor is very nice, very trendy, but not worth it to me.

This restaurant is a hidden treasure in Key West. Out of the 5 days we were in Key West, we ate here thrice. We stayed at the Reach Resort (right next to the restaurant) and happened to walk by this place. This place probably has the best sushi I have ever had. And to my surprise, they had an assortment of vegetarian rolls as well. My favorite was the 'Sweet Potato Vegetable Tempura Roll'. It was so good that I wanted to keep eating. Being a vegetarian, I usually get stuck with either pickled radish or avocado/cucumber rolls. This was one of the best sushi rolls I have ever tasted. My carnivore husband devoured on 'Beauty & the Beast' roll. This was recommended by the server as one of his favorites. For dessert - definitely try their 'Black Tea Crumble' and their 'Ginger Ice-cream' (home-made). Love this place.....I wish they had a branch here in DC. Definitely try it out.....you won't be disappointed!!!!

  • Jamie C.

Not to be mistaken with the bed and breakfast that is also on the island.. Yummy saketinis (tried plum and mango), excellent atmosphere, but disappointing spider roll (truly seemed like chicken fingers). Their sashimi must be ordered for the entertainment factor and freshness...I won't devulge any more..go see for yourself :)

  • Tori L.

There is a limited menu here especially if you prefer raw rolls, but what they do, they do well. We had great attentive service at the sushi bar and the rolls were on par with our favorite place back home. We loved the eel roll, the sunshine, and the rainbow roll. The sashimi is a bit expensive for what you get, but the salmon was definitely buttery and fresh. Reservations are highly recommended. There was a long line when we left.

  • Eddie H.

Not impressed. The waitress took 15 minutes to take our drink order, but not without waiting on a table that got seated after us first. But that wouldn't have been so bad if the edamame wasn't the worst edamame I've ever tasted. It must have been frozen for 2 years before being microwaved and sent to our table-- it tasted like a foot. Interestingly, the sushi itself was good. Not the best ever, but pretty tasty. My wife got a cooked salmon roll, but the salmon had obviously only been under the broiler for a few seconds before coming out. My rainbow roll was nice-- it had thin slices of lemon on top, which was a nice touch. We were going to order more rolls, but the terrible edamame ruined the entire experience. For the money, I'd say go anywhere else in Key West.

  • Sara S.

Hard to enjoy the sushi when the temperature is so warm you're sweating but the server is cold. It's like we're troubling him when we ask for a refill on empty drinks. They won't make any exceptions to their rolls, so take it or leave it. I say leave it and go. The spicy volcano was bland and mayonnaisey. Asked them to remove the skin on my sashimi and was given a lecture and told they would do it this one time. No problem as I won't be back.

Sushi rolls were very good and large. Especially liked the surf and turf roll. The rainbow rolls and atomic roll were okay. Decor was very nice and there was plenty of tables open on a Tuesday night. No complaints about the service..waitress was nice and helpful. This will be my go to spot for good sushi in Key West.

I don't write reviews. In fact, I don't use Yelp, but my better half does.... Every generation has their tragedies... WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, September 11 and now we have Ambrosia Restaurant.... I wish I had utilized this Yelp site , because, had I looked this at the reviews of this over priced chum-bucket, I would have been well warned and probably would have never set foot in the confines of this prison, which they call: "Ambrosia Restaurant." We "dined" at subject restaurant on March 23, 2013, with a group of great friends... Sixteen (16) souls, in total, "ate" and ENDURED there.... Even the best and worst restaurants, in which I have encountered over my life, nationally and internationally, would naturally welcome a group of this size and would even and probably "go out of their way" to ensure, at least a tepid, if not, a favorable and/or amicable performance by their staff... This Ambrosia Restaurant is not the case... Even if you found a trust fund or a stack of $100 bills outside the front door of this lack luster failure of a restaurant, I would suggest picking these good luck funds up and going to the bodega catty-corner to this black-hole of a dining experience... So, what was wrong? The food was so/so and the company I kept was great; HOWEVER: THE OWNER IS FREEZE DRIED SATAN and her wait staff acts like her minions. (I state this because we were threatened for arrest merely contesting clear fraud on their behalf)... I would not use the restroom here again, if you paid me... In summation, I will never go there again and in spite of the poor service and owner, I believe we all had a great time, in spite of this restaurant's best efforts to obliterate same. This establishment is a parody of what fine dining should be... (without the laughter and having Ashton Kutcher arriving and saying we were "punked").... No, these people are for real about hating their customers... they make the fat guy in the movie Seven, look like he ate at Le Cirque.... Don't eat at this place, ever! If you do, bring a camera, attorney and an accountant!

After spending a week in Key West eating mostly a lot of unremarkable food in places that remind you it is an informal, tropical, vacation spot, it was a pleasure to step into the fun, modern decor of Ambrosia; a welcome and pleasant change in scenery. We were one of three tables in the place, so it was a bit surprising that the waitstaff was so inattentive at first, but once they got to us they were friendly and accommodating. We had no problem getting additional items in our rolls and everything was fresh and delicious. Getting an order of hamachi sashimi over a bowl of smoking dry ice was a visual treat, the pieces were big and the fish was delicious. It was very affordable and the manager spent a fair amount of time talking with us at the end of our meal. The only downside is that it is next to the hotel pool so unless Ambrosia changes its rules, you may have the misfortune we did of having a giant, overweight guest sloshing in soaking wet from the pool in nothing but his swimsuit, slipping and almost wiping out the tables next to us and then standing around (a visual not conducive to eating our lunch) waiting for the cheeseburger and fries he ordered. Classy.

The sushi and rolls here are excellent. If you are in Key West and are craving sushi, this should be the place you go. Service was great thanks to our server Foo. Just when we had given up hope of finding any good service in Key West, Foo saved the day.

The old location for ambrosia was not to my liking. It was very cramped. The food carried the same feeling. Everything was thoroughly coated in sauces, mayo, cream cheese, ect that you had no clue you were eating sushi. The cooked food felt very rushed and was rather bland. The new location has seemed to fix both issues I currently had with Ambrosia. I LOVE the decor for the place. It is very modern, has a slick feel and is comfortable. Their menu has become a fusion of sushi offerings. The plating is the BEST I have ever seen when it comes to food service. Alot of people think its gimmicky and flashy, but that is what they are going for. The experience is very comforting and wonderful. The menu has a taste for everyone. The usual california roll for the beginning sushi eater, all the way to otoro sushi for those that enjoy premium sushi. I do however feel that they still overdo the rolls with massive amounts of "flavor enhancers" There is just way too much cream cheese/sauce/mayo for my personal taste. I enjoy traditional sushi, I enjoy the actual flavor of the fish and other key ingredients. I blame the whole "fusion" wording for the combinations. You see when it comes down to it, sushi for the most part right now is a trendy food. When it comes down to it, most people wouldnt care for bare bones sushi. I feel this is a safe way to cater to a bigger audience. The purists stick to the sashimi/sushi cuts, and the masses order the prettier plates. I will say though, that most of the offerings are extremely tasty. You just sometimes forget there is a piece of raw fish. A couple notes that I MUST share with people. The kobe ishiyaki is wonderful. They dont use the best cut of wagyu, there is a distinct lack of marbling that should be on a premium cut. It is also a bit pricey, but what do you expect when you are ordering one of the most expensive cuts of beef. Also, I MUST recomment that you order sushi local to the waters. The Hamachi is impressive, and the whitefish you order will most likely be snapper. Tuna is also fresh. Salmon will be hit or miss depending on the current stock. If you are looking for a more dazzling dining experience, ambrosia wll not let you down. This is the place for some of the finest fusion style sushi Key West offers.

Even though the presentations of some of the dishes is unnecessarily cheesy (LED lights??), the sushi at this place taste fabulous. I'm not even a fan of sushi and still i couldn't wait to go back and try their rolls!

Owner/hostess has a horrible attitude and readily admits she isn't a nice person and said they don't "answer phones or take reservations" after they start serving dinner, supposedly--though they did anyway, then gave my group a hard time after arriving, instead. Waitress missed part of our order while taking it and then, when asked where the dish was, argued that we never asked for it and was completely unapologetic. Sushi was average. Strongly recommend going elsewhere, the atmosphere isn't worth the attitude.

Having read the negative reviews about the owner beIng rude I was hesitant to go here; but it was a really good experience. My son and I got there ahead of the rest of the group and it was not a problem for us to wait until the rest of the group arrived. The owner was there and was polite. The food was amazing; the duck and the squid salad appetizers were delicious. We had a variety of sushi rolls and they were all fresh and beautifully presented. Would go back.

I have very mixed feelings about this place. The sunshine was top notch, very fresh and tasty. However, the staff was quite different. My girlfriend and i are in key west with another couple, and we spent the day roaming the city on bikes. So when we showed up at ambrosia we were a bit tired. We were so dressed in shorts, t-shirts, and flops. The hostess immediately turned her nose up at us and asked if we had a reservation. The restaurant was almost completely empty. However she insisted that they were booked, but we could set at the sushk bar, also empty. We were crammed into a corner, as hidden as possible. The busboys also grabbed anything that even remotely looked empty, to rush us out. The restaurant was never even half full. It was made very clear to us that we were not the kind of people that should be in that place. We will not be going back. I will say our server was very friendly, which is why I gave three stars, not two. You can find a better sunshine place on key west.

I lived in Japan for a while and am from Cali so I really appreciate great sushi. Unfortunately Ambrosia doesn't make the grade. This being our second time eating here, Our hostess was Japanese and she was very polite and cordial. Our waitress from Turkey was also very nice and attentive. Our first time here included long waiting times even at the bar and unattentive waitresses. Our appetizers, nasu (Japanese eggplant) and dynamite (spicy mussels in sauce) were good starters and we didn't have any complaints. Our main course was a sushi dinner and an assortment of four other rolls. The flavors were highly disappointing as each roll was more about the rice and sauce than highlighting the freshness of the fish and subtle flavors that great sushi should have. None of us could taste the fish and everything was highly overpriced. One deep fried roll had no flavor whatsoever other than the soy sauce you dipped it in. I've had better sushi from low priced O-Kami sushi to go from supermarkets. The only decent entree was my shrimp tempura, which included about 7-8 large shrimp. Unfortunately, they do not use traditional panko breading so the traditional element and flavor was missing for me. I don't recommend Ambrosia if you're accustomed to good sushi. I gave it 2 stars for decent tempura and contemporary ambiance but the food doesn't match the quality of the decor. Last time I'll go back here.

I'm an avid Yelp user, but never once have posted a review. This was one of the worst dining experiences of my life and I had to share it. I went with 3 friends. I'm visiting from New York City and have dined at countless restaurants of all kinds and have never been treated the way I was treated at this restaurant. My friend called the restaurant at 8pm to ask for an 8:30 reservation, and was told we could be seated at 8:45. We arrive at the restaurant at 8:40 only to be told they don't take reservations by who we later found out was the owner. After a few minutes of arguing, the woman with whom we had spoken to on the phone admitted to taking the reservation and said she'll "see what she could do" to seat us. While she was doing this, the owner (who is a small chinese woman), lectured us about how "she's not nice like the waitress" and tells staff to "never pick up the phone during business hours". And just would not stop lecturing us. OKAY. This should have been the red flag to just gtfo and eat elsewhere. The dining begins. We ordered 3 Sapporo, 5 rolls of sushi, and gyoza. Our beers and sushi came and I politely asked the waitress for the gyoza and she got super defensive and denied that we even ordered it. She didn't bother apologizing for her rude behavior, even after my friend said "i think you're being very rude". When she went to the kitchen to put in the order for the gyoza I asked for another waitress. We didn't tip. I have NEVER not tipped at any restaurant but this place didn't deserve it. They didn't even offer to comp anything or bring dessert. The Sushi was OKAY, Average if best...and (even coming from NYC) overpriced for what it was. This place tries way too hard and is not reminiscent of anything Japanese. Will never go back here again.

Great food. Fresh fish. If your the typical beer drinking snow bird you'll like the specials. But if you understand Japanese gourmet food get the sushi print out. Hiyayakko with Bonita flakes. Hamachi, toro, Anagi, Nama saki, spicy tuna. The waitress won't have a clue but you can bond with the sushi chef. The fresh caught fish puts it over the top. The sushi chef is masa

Solid 4 stars. The new location completely changes the vibe of the restaurant, but aside from the music, it totally works for them. Fish was fresh, rolls imaginative, sashimi well cut, decent sake selection - can't really ask for much more.

The worst run Resturant I've ever been two. Talk about overwhelmed service staff. 7 open sets at the sushi bar for the last 20 minutes and 10 people waiting.

My husband and I had an amazing evening at Ambrosia. The setting was perfect to begin our honeymoon. The lighting and decor were modern and unique. Our waitress was very sweet and suggested a hot sake. It was delicious. We also enjoyed fried sweet potato sushi roll and (my favorite) the avocado roll.

Friends told us to come here. SO HAPPY we did. We were NOT disappointed. From the decor, atmosphere, service and Food - all were perfect. A really enjoyable experience. It's a nice/fancy place but - hey - you are in Key West - no need to "dress up". Our friends told us to get the Spicy Tuna Sandwich - which we did - again & again - SO DELICIOUS. Could have eaten a whole LOAF of these! I also liked the sake sampler - it's a variety - so you're not stuck drinking a whole carafe/bottle of the same stuff. The sashimi has a cool presentation with smoking dry ice. If you are in Key West & you like sushi - check this place out. you'll be glad you did.........

terrible service and so rude. the service was very slow it took 15 minutes to get water and 30 minutes before our real drinks arrived. my aunt ordered sushi with no rice just rice paper (something they sell at publix) and they told her "no you can't have that". the sushi chef was the only competent one. the "manager" and waitress we're completely incompetent.

If you are looking for the best sushi in key west go here. Great location and space. It looks like the restaurant used to be the lobby of a classic 50's large hotel lobby. It is very well done and the atmosphere is perfect. Arrived without a reservation (opps) and the hostess was able to seat us within a short time at the sushi bar. Very knowledgable waiter. Great presentation and flavors. Put it on your kwf list one night.

My wife and I went back again. They were getting ready for a big party which may have made a difference, or maybe there just has been a permanent change. But the food was great. My wife had the Sea Urchin and said it was the best she has ever had. She had one more piece after our meal. The rolls we had were also expertly prepared. The Atomic roll was great. I would give our meal last night 5 stars if I knew that it was this good every night.

We were on a mission for some sushi while in KW and google maps lead us here. It was a pleasant surprise. It is beautiful inside, not too fancy and service was great. Oh and the sushi did not disappoint either. I always appreciate service with a sense of humor and our waitress had it as we watched the drunk wasted girl at the table near us. We tried conch for the first time and loved it too. We will definitely go back next time we visit.

Really great sushi restaurant that is away from the bar scene on Duval st. Food was good and the wait staff was very friendly. I'm giving this place 4 out of 5 because it is really dark in there. I had a hard time reading the menu and writing down my sushi order. I took out my phone to use as extra light to read the menu. They have a lot of windows so maybe it is better before sundown.

In spite of the fact that I've never written a Yelp review and several other members of my dinner party already posted reviews, I feel compelled to review this restaurant in order to warn others of the ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE experience we had on March 23, 2013. We were a party of 16 and made reservations 2 days in advance, and even called to confirm. When we arrived, our tables weren't ready (despite the restaurant being empty). This is when we were advised that our party had to be split up into two tables. Service throughout the meal was decent as was the food (not particularly memorable, nothing to write home about). When we initially made our reservation, we asked if we could bring our own wine (as we were celebrating a birthday and had special wine) and were told there was a corkage fee, which of course was fine. When we received the bill, we were charged 6 corkage fees despite only opening 3 bottles. We kindly advised the waitress of the mistake. She returned only to insist that the owner "saw 6 bottles." The owner was extremely rude and combative and even tried to "negotiate" us down to 5 corkage fees even though the empty bottles were still on the table. After that issue was settled, we (very politely) asked for our bill to be divided among a few credit cards-- a reasonable request, as each card was to be charged $100. Our waitress huffed and puffed and proceeded to mutter "f****ing go back to miami" as she passed by our friends' table, not realizing they were part of our party and within earshot. She proceeded to bring our checks back, which she (literally) SLAMMED down on the table. Needless to say, she managed to screw up the division of the checks as well. At this point, we had all given up. The evening ended with a hysterically sobbing waitress ridiculous threats to call the police (I still don't know what for) which were quickly retracted when politely advised that a quarter of the members of this supposed problematic table were attorneys. This is the fourth year we stay at Santa Maria Resort (not counting other visits to KW--it's safe to say we are all regulars to the island), where the restaurant is located. I hope everyone knows that they are not affiliated and I hope the resort gets rid of this restaurant ASAP! I'm supremely grateful for my fantastic friends, all of whom are polite and educated professionals, and their positive dispositions-- we're already looking back at this horrible experience and laughing. Bottom line: DO NOT EAT HERE! Unless you're a masochist.

this place does not even deserve 1 star. i ordered spicy tuna and 3 piece sashimi lunch menu and my hubby ordered pork cutlet. first of all, it took 45 mins for the food to come out. there were other parties who came later and their food came out way before mine. also the server was so rude when i ask the status of the order and the owner didn't even seem to care about my complaints. i finally got the food and i couldn't believe how small portion the cutlet was and quality of the sashimi were like D grade fish. the color was so bad it could taste that the fish has been sitting in the refrigerator for long time. not fresh at all. i do not recommend this place to anyone. no parking, rude server, bad quality food, expensive. why would you wanna go here?

We were staying at the Reach resort next door and decided to have a sushi dinner so we walked the 25 feet to Ambrosia. The hostess was short with us when we arrived because we didn't have reservations... seriously? It was 7pm on a Sunday during the SLOW season! There were empty tables and the sushi bar was empty except for one guy. We had three rolls and were, in general, happy with our choices. The service was pretty much non-existent but we didn't need much anyway. THe fish was fresh and the menu had a good selection....odds are I won't think about it again once we leave town. The ambience and the decor was pretty cool.

This is the first time I ever write a review about any restaurant. I feel the need to warn people about going to this awful place. I wish I would have read these reviews before taking 15 of my best friends to eat there for my birthday. The only reason why I'm even giving it 1 star is because the food was actually pretty good. What killed the place was the service. The owner has severe issues with customer service and hospitality, and has trained her staff to follow in her footsteps. I hope those that are recommended this place (like I was) read these reviews and go elsewhere!

Ambrosia is co-located with the Santa Maria Suites (which I highly recommend, but thats another review). This was out first trip to Key West. We arrived at Key West after the no-so-great-drive from Miami and flying all day. We were beat, and didn't feel like eating. We went to Ambrosia solely because it didn't take any effort. We had no reservation. Our intent was to have a few appetizers, then crash. It didn't work out that way. All 4 of us got a different appetizer or sushi. We shared around, and were quite pleased with what we got. We ordered another round, then another, and maybe another. All I now is that despite our perceived collective lack of appetite, we managed to break $100 on appetizers and rolls. It was worth every penny. Interesting food, good service, laid back ambience; an altogether great dining experience. We we found the patrons to be equally cool. We are headed back to the Keys in a month and m kids have already put in a request for a return to Ambrosia. I shall be happy to accommodate them.

Great menu. There is something for everyone, even if you aren't a sushi fan. Their menu of sake was amazing. I had the Mu Sake. Very easy to sip on, very smooth. I encourage everyone to step out of their comfort zone here. Its worth it. I ordered the Yakinasu, grilled eggplant topped with bonito flakes (dried fish flakes). It tasted good, but the texture was not what I thought of when I think of "grilled." It was mushy, but still tasted good. The seaweed salad was fresh and had a great dressing. Excellent. My favorite dish of the night was the Duck Tataki. I can't say enough about this dish. BEYOND GOOD! I also got the Sunshine roll which was wonderful. I think the only issue I had with this place was the Yakinasu and our server. She was not a happy person. She made us feel like she was doing us a favor by taking our order.

I'm actually a little disappointed in this place. It looks nice but I feel that was all there is to it, aesthetics. I even feel this same way for the food that was served. It looked fresh, but that was about it, it didn't taste any fresher than what I've had before. We ordered Chirashi and Hamachi Collar. For $18 for the Hamachi, we expected a little more than a piece that was smaller than my cell phone. Seriously now, I know that's the best part of a Yellowtail fish, but it doesn't merit the cost. On top of that it was pretty dry and not done well at all compared to all the others I've had. I gave it an extra star for decor and aesthetics. That's about it. I'd skip this place and hold off the Sushi Craving till I get back inland. It's definitely not worth it, unless you're stuck there, then that's probably the best you can get.

Solid 4 stars for sushi. We stayed at the excellent Santa Maria suites and tried this place because it is attached to the hotel. The sushi exceeded expectations, and we are bay area sushi snobs! Service was good and everything was fresh and delish. OK for older or well behaved kiddies, not good for little ones.

After passing this place numerous times, we finally made a reservation. The decor is great, and the food is excellent. They have a wide variety of sakke to choose from and the service was excellent. A great date place. Dress up, or dress casual. You won't be sorry at Ambrosia.

A very nice sushi bar. We got the crazy roll and the hamachi heat roll, which were both very good. We also had mackerel, toro, and salmon nigiri, which were nice, although the salmon was served with a thick slice of lemon on top which discolored it. Hand rolls are not listed on the menu, although they did make me a salmon skin hand roll on request. It was not the best - overall a bit floppy and the salmon skin lacked crispness. Still, a very pleasant and satisfying dinner overall.

The sushi was pretty good, a little over priced but still pretty good. My boyfriend and I encountered the same thing that a lot of people mention on here with the hostess (possibly owner?). She tactlessly looked my boyfriend and me up and down before asking us (with a little attitude) if we had a reservation. We arrived at 6:30ish and the restaurant was completely empty. We replied we did not at which point we were put at the sushi bar. The food was alright, not really exceptional. The service made us feel like 2nd class citizens. There is better sushi, and easily better service on the island. Don't waste your time.
